Obituary

Lucian Timothy (Tim) Stroker went with the angels on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019 surrounded by the loving women in his life. Tim was born Oct. 28, 1960, son of the late John W. and Marie Stroker. He worked as the Service Manager for Crowley Chrysler in Bristol for the last 27 years.

Tim was a teddy bear of a man who would throw his arms around you and give the kind of hugs everyone yearns for; a man so comfortable with himself, he could easily accept everyone else for who they were, with no judgments. Tim was happiest on a beach, or a boat, with a fishing pole in one hand and a cold brew in the other, along side the people he loved. Or standing at his grill cooking up a storm for friends and family with food from the bountiful gardens he lovingly grew. He was the kind of friend that we all hope we have at least once in our lives.

With a great big capacity for life and living, Tim was a warrior to the end, fighting valiantly to beat the cancer that ultimately took him from us and from this earth.

He is survived by his best friend, partner, soul mate, wife of 37 years Cheryl, daughter Lindsey and her fiancé Mary Mathews, son Spencer and partner Sarah Carroll, his new granddaughter Layla, siblings Laurie Churchill, Chris Stroker and wife Betty, Lisa Stroker and husband Ron Remondino, sister-in-law Karen Mandes and brother-in-law Spiro Mandes, nieces and nephews Eric Stroker, Calista Remondino, Zoe and George Mandes; and his lifelong friends, and friends who wish they’d been lucky enough to know him their whole lives long. He was predeceased by his brother Gary Stroker.

The family wishes to give Thanks to the wonderfully caring team at Yale New Haven Smilow Cancer Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Calling hours will be Monday Aug. 5 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 49 South Street in Litchfield. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, 152 Main Street South, Bethlehem.

Dear Cheryl and family,
Tim was a great guy. His smile and humor were a "light to everyone." We had many memories of Middlebury
and Morris. He will be missed by all!

Cheryl,
Its been a long time, but we spent several days with you and Tim at the Outer Banks for Donna and Marty's vow renewal. So very sorry to hear about Tim. We just were with you guys for a short time, but it was easy to get to know Tim as he was the kind of guy that doesn't hold back. He had a a big personality and loved people. You couldn't help but love the guy. Michal and I will be praying for you and your family as you deal with losing such a bright spot in this world, and may God wrap His arms around you all and help you move forward as Tim would want you to. Based on my brief time with him, I think he would want you living life with no regrets. You are in our prayers.

As this day has gone on, I have been reading all of the comments posted by people confirming the feelings we all have for Tim. It has been quite a while since we last spoke, due to mainly the fact that life goes on and people move on, which for me meant distance from CT. However, I constantly recall and retell the stories from our college days. I remember how much Tim missed Cheryl during the first year when he was a freshman, and knew he needed her with him. I miss the times we had at UHA and on Levesque Ave (aka the “Morrison Hotel”). Thanks Tim for making life better for all of us who knew you. You will still be here with us since we can never forget you and your awesome smile!

I met Tim during my first year in college. He was surrounded by friends, laughing and joking, and making plans for the future. During the next 35+ years, his enthusiasm and passion for life never let up - whether it was a story about fishing, the thrill or agony of being a Red Sox and Cowboys fan, some fact about muscle cars or motors, a video THAT YOU MUST WATCH!!!!, or the love of his wife, family and friends. I count myself lucky to have been a friend. Sheila and I send our sympathies to Cheryl, Lindsey, Spencer, and all of the family.

Cheryl/Lindsey/Spencer -

I am saddened to hear the news. My heart aches for you and yours. Although I did not get to spend many times together with Timmy. The time I did spend we had a blast together and it was never enough. I could spend endless hours in his company. What a beautiful man. The world lost a great light. May the beauty of the years and times together comfort you during this time. Send much love hugs thoughts and prayers.

" We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."
- Alfred, Lord Tennyson
