Obituary for Arthur LePage

Arthur F. LePage
History aficionado, singer, mentor and child at heart.

Torrington - Arthur Francis LePage, age 78, of Torrington, CT passed away at home on March 13, 2015. Arthur firmly believed that... “In the end it's not the YEARS in a life, it's the LIFE in the years.”

After his employment as Parts Manager of Nelke Motors in Litchfield for 35 years, he continued his education, earning a bachelor's degree in general studies from UCONN in 2001.

One of his greatest joys after retirement was mentoring young children in the reading program in Torrington schools under the auspices of the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program). He loved each of his little students as if they were his own grandchildren. Singing was one of Art's lifelong passions and he was a member of St. Paul's choir, the Norwestones Barbershop Chorus and the Half-Pint Quart-ette. Arthur was the first President of the Torrington School of Ballet and stage manager of the Nutmeg Ballet Co. for many years. He also formerly served his community and church as president of St. Paul's Lutheran Church congregation council.

Arthur is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Alison LePage of Torrington; daughters Jeanne Palomo and husband Fabian of San Diego, CA, Denise Alsakkaf and husband Lutfi of Stratford, CT, Susan LePage of Worcester Ma, Kathleen Nilsson and husband David of Torrington, Cindy Dillard and husband Troy of Lake City, FL, and son Howard Nodine, Jr. and wife Ruth of Athens, GA; Sister Eileen Baiocchetti and brother-in-law Vincent of Tucson, AZ; ten grandchildren, Jessica, Christopher, Conor, Peter, Zoe, Lea, Maher, Noah, Mozerat and Alison; two great-grandchildren; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents Mary and Joseph Arthur LePage, brothers J. Lionel LePage c.s.v. and Dr. James R. LePage, sister Margaret Ford and beloved “Aunto” Ellen McGrath.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 837 Charles St., Torrington CT on Thurs. March 19 at 10 am. Calling hours 4-7pm, Wed. March 18, at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, CT. Burial at New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington, following the reception in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, “Friends of Music”, 837 Charles St. Torrington, CT 06790. Husband, father, brother, mentor, singer, friend... already and forever profoundly missed by all.
