Patti was an active member of St. Anthony de Padua’s Church serving as a beloved lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was a long time member of the Daughters of Isabella, serving several terms as its Regent. She was a member of both the Junior Women’s Club and the Women’s Guild. In addition, she taught many classes of CCD. In 2010 Patti and her husband were awarded the St. Joseph Archdiocese Medal of Appreciation for their work at St. Anthony’s. In recent years, Patti volunteered weekly at Montfort Missionaries Lourdes of Litchfield. Patti’s strong commitment to helping others is a testament to her Faith.
Besides her religious servitude, Patti was a lifelong Girl Scout. Her involvement in scouting ranged from troupe leader for each of her three girls to President of the Northwestern Connecticut Girl Scout Council and many positions in between. In 1981 Patti was presented with St. Anne’s Medal, the highest award that the Catholic Archdiocese gives to an adult Girl Scout leader. She also was invited to and attended a high-tea reception at the White House with First Lady Rosalyn Carter.
When her children were young, Patti’s primary occupation was a homemaker. As her children grew, she was employed as a secretary for both Dr. LaPorta and Dr. Round. She also worked as a front desk receptionist for the Litchfield Inn.
Patti cherished and was devoted to her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Dick Brennan. By her three daughters: Cheryl Brennan, Nadine Assaf (Jamie) and Colleen Martell (Dennis). And by the loves of her life, her grandchildren: Maegan, Caitrin, and Brendan Assaf. She will be remembered for her beaming smile, her kind, caring nature and for the “39” wonderful years she spent on Earth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 on Saturday, August 10th, 2019 at St. Anthony’s Parish, 49 South Street in Litchfield. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital or Lourdes of Litchfield.
