Arnold A Dorvel

Litchfield; Arnold A. Dorvel, 91 died peacefully on Monday June 6th 2016. Arnold was born December 4th, 1924 in West New York, New Jersey. He was metallurgical engineer, 1st starting at Hartford Steel and foundries in Maine and New Hartford, CT while developing a new metallurgical process which developed into him opening his own business, Dorvel Metallurgical in Harwinton, CT. He ran this business until the mid eighties .He went to work for Engelhard Corp in Plainville, MA and Wolverine Technology in Warwick, RI as a metallurgical engineer until he retired in 2004. He enjoyed his retirement years in Litchfield spending time with his wife, his family and taking rides and walks with the dogs.

He was predeceased by his wife Joy. They enjoyed traveling together and went to many places and countries .They were married for 60 years.

Arnold is survived by his sisters Elsie Richardson and Carol Phillips .In addition to his sisters, he is survived by his daughter Andrea Monschein and her husband David of Litchfield, Phillip Dorvel and his wife Paula of North Carolina, Paul Dorvel and his wife Deborah of Seattle, Bob Dorvel and his wife Karen of Boston, Linda Dorvel of Simsbury. He had 8 grandchildren, Stephanie, Jeffrey, Katie, Grayson, Ben, Brian, Rose, Kayla and 1 great grandchild Max .He also leaves behind his beloved dogs Lenny and Scrappy.

There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held at St. Michaels church, 25 South Street, Litchfield, CT 06759 on Friday, June 10th at 11:00 am.
