Devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather

Torrington - Norman Soucie departed this life on Monday, October 19, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital with his wife, Lucille and his family at his side. He was born on September 26, 1933 in Torrington, Connecticut to the late Eucharist and Adele (Cappetta) Soucie.

Norman proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He then went on to serve as a Connecticut State Trooper for 23 years retiring as a sergeant in 1980. His next career was a special agent with the United States Department of Defense Investigative services, retiring in 1992. Norman was a family man first and enjoyed spending time and vacationing with his kids and grandkids. He loved to cook and delighted whomever was lucky enough to enjoy his meals. He was an avid sports fan and rooted for the New York Islanders, New York Yankees and Uconn Huskies.

In addition to his wife Lucille of 59 years, he is survived by his three children; Debra Garcia and her husband Tibo of Torrington, Captain Richard Soucie USN and his wife Melissa of Tampa, FL and Robert Soucie and his wife Kristi of Litchfield, CT, five grandchildren; IS2 Jordan Soucie USN, MA3 Taylor Soucie USN, Lauren Garcia, and Alden and Amanda Soucie. He also leaves his brother Anthony Laraia and his wife Rita, his sister Donna Laraia, a sister-in-law Arline Green and her husband Larry, a brother-in-law; John Palaski and his wife Darlene and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thanks to St. Francis Hospital for the way they treated Norman the last few years and a very special heartfelt thanks to his doctors; including Steven Lane, Peter Schauer, Ken Leopold and Peter Monoson and of course the staff of 8-1 at St. Francis for caring for him at the end.

RIP Norman

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Peter’s Church, 107 East Main Street, Torrington, CT 06790. Friends and family may call on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 5-8pm at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. Entombment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
