Frederick D. Griswold

Mr. Frederick D. Griswold, 76, passed away on February 23, 2015. He was the loving husband of Rosanne U. Griswold.

Fred was born December 3, 1938 in Torrington, CT, son of the late Russell Perkins and Helen (Wadhams) Griswold. He was predeceased by his brother, Russell (Sonny) Wadhams Griswold.

Fred graduated from Norwich University in Northfield, VT with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. His Norwich affiliations include; Cadre, Drill Team, Honor Committee, Skull and Swords, Society of Military Engineers, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE).

Fred had a long and successful career as a Civil Engineer both domestic and foreign, managing projects in Guyana, South America and Venezuela, South America.

As a commissioned officer in the 320th Engineer Company, Army Corp of Engineers, Fred, served with the VII Corp, stationed in Germany.

After retirement from the Torrington Water Company Fred enjoyed motor homing with his wife Rosanne, woodcarving and model railroading.

Fred is survived by his wife Rosanne U. Griswold of Goshen, son Gregory J. Griswold and wife Monica of McDonough, GA, daughter Karen Ann Griswold of Lawrenceville, GA and granddaughters; Alyssa and Toni Griswold, Kandice Gravedoni, Ashley and Brook Ostrander, Emily Magee, Caroline, Camille and Cate Stroud, Annabelle Taylor and grandson David Ostrander.

There will be a private burial in the spring. A remembrance service will be held in the Norwich University Chapel in the Fall.
