Dorothy R. Stickels, 92, died Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of Robert E. Stickels, previously deceased.

Born in Torrington, December 12, 1922, daughter of the late Joseph N. and Helen (Lukcso) Ramsey, she lived in the Torrington, Harwinton and Farmington areas. She graduated from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY as an advertising designer, and was employed by the advertising agencies Snow & Cahalin, Inc. for 1 year and William B. Pemington in Springfield, MA for 2.5 years. She became art director at the Sayford Corporation in Litchfield for 11 years and retired in 1980 from the State of Connecticut Economic Development Commission where she was a graphic artist for 11 years.

Mrs. Stickels leaves a son Gary Stickels and his wife Judithlynn of Wallingford, two daughters; Sandra Lubans and her husband Val of Harwinton and Joanne Sobolewski and her husband Bob of Sarasota, FL, four grandchildren; Erica Lubans Singer of Los Angeles, CA, Peter Lubans of New York City, Jyl Sobolewski of Bradenton, FL and Mark Sobolewski of Sarasota, FL, one great-granddaughter, and another one on the way.


Private funeral services and burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
