Obituary for Yolanda D. Fazekas

LITCHFIELD – Yolanda D. Fazekas, 93, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2014 at Litchfield Woods. She was the loving wife of 47 years to the late Joseph Fazekas.

Born in Torrington on January 11, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Domenic and Teresa (DiLullo) DiLaurenzio from Abbruzzi, Italy, and stepdaughter of the late Concetta DiLaurenzio.

Mrs. Fazekas graduated from Torrington High School, Class of 1939 and throughout the years worked in the offices of Standard Plant, Hayden Manufacturing, General Time, Aerospace and Seth Thomas. She lived many happy years in Torrington prior to moving to Litchfield.

She was affectionately known as “Lonnie,” “Mama Lonnie,” and “Auntie Landa.”

Lonnie loved dancing, old Hollywood and playing Bingo. She was sharp, witty, independent and loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Coffill and her husband, Albert; adored grandchildren, Laura Coffill and Brian Coffill and his wife, Caroline; many dear nieces and nephews and their families whom she loved very much.

She will also be missed by her many friends from the Litchfield Nutrition Program as well as her Bingo friends.

She was predeceased by her sister, Philomena Borla.

A graveside service will held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014 at St. Francis Cemetery, South Main Street, Torrington.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South Street, Litchfield. There are no calling hours.
