Billy was a loving fiancé, father and grandfather and a good friend to many. He lived his whole life in the Village of Northfield and attended Litchfield High School. Billy was the owner of W. H. Gill & Sons, his contracting business, where his craftsmanship, pride and integrity showed in every project he did. He was a member of the Northfield Volunteer Fire Company for 14 years and served for many years as the Chief Engineer where he took great pride in keeping the apparatus in running order. He became an honorary member in recognition of his years of service and dedication. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends in the Sawdust Lounge and by the campfire in the backyard. He also enjoyed camping, model building, flying his RC airplanes and tinkering in his shop. He was a true friend and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Billy leaves behind his fiancée and loving best friend, Kirsten Legendre of Northfield, his two sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul Gill and Melissa Ives of Northfield, James and Amanda Gill of Danby, VT and his first wife, Marge Archer of Thomaston.
