Obituary for Walter Carl Carlson

Walter Carl Carlson, 84, of Washington Depot, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Alma (Houle) Carlson.

Walt was born on April 3, 1938 in Waterbury, the son of Carl and Florence Carlson and graduated from Naugatuck High School Class of 1956. He was a long-time resident of Beacon Falls and served at Beacon Company Hose #1 as Assistant Fire Chief.

Walt was a member of Teamsters Local 677 as a plant operator and retired from O&G Industries after 41 years. During his retirement, he was a partner at C&B Bore Repair and spent extensive hours with his nine grandchildren between baseball, basketball, field hockey, football, horse shows, and modified racing.

Walt loved sunny days, holding Alma’s hand, and playing with the family pets. He also loved antique tractor shows, rodeos, and Ford trucks. His favorite phrase was, “Jeepers Creepers.” He will be remembered as a humble, generous, loving, kind of man with a big heart. Everyone who knew him loved him.

Besides his loving wife of 63 years, he leaves behind four daughters, Terri Carlson of Goshen, Stacey Young and her husband Jerry of Bethlehem, Micah Dowling and her husband Mark of Midland, NC, and Jennifer Blanchard and her husband Tony of Bethlehem. Walt was adored by his grandchildren, Emily and Rosie Carlson, Brendon, Tanner and Kevin Young, Mackenzie and Chase Dowling, and Madison and Ryan Blanchard. He also leaves behind his loving brother Robert Carlson who has been by his side throughout their entire lives.
