Tessa DiNicola

Tessa DiNicola, 94, of Torrington, formerly of Litchfield, Ct., entered into heavenly rest on October 19, 2019.
Born Nov. 9, 1924 in Torrington to Sophie and Zigmund Chrostowski, she and her late husband, Joseph DiNicola operated restaurants in Florida and Torrington. They purchased The Village restaurant in Litchfield in 1964, from which they eventually retired.
Tessa and Joe lovingly raised four children as they worked together, and she became known as ''Cookie Mama'' in their neighborhood. She enjoyed another rewarding career as a private caregiver through her 80's.
She is survived by sons Daniel Barber and Richard DiNicola, sister Blanche Gardner, granddaughter Theresa (Chris) Petti, 5 great grandchildren,1 great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Besides Joe, she was predeceased by beloved daughters Rhonda and Cheryl, and siblings Stephanie Barto, Ethel Gilbert, Charles Chrostowski, Helen Eubanks, Pauline Ozbat, Thomas Chrostowski, Dorothy Barber, and Ronald Chrostowski.
Her family would like to thank Dr. James Devanney, her friends and caregivers at Regal Care, and Jessica Phillips, R.N., and support team, of Hartford Healthcare at Home.
A graveside service will take place Mon., Oct. 28th, 11:30a.m. at St. Francis Cemetery, 863 South Main St., Torrington, officiated by The Rev. Robert F.Tucker.
