Tara Joan MacMaster Vail passed away peacefully after a short illness on Monday, November 2, 2020 surrounded by love. She was born on March 9, 1967 the beloved daughter of the late Dr. Duncan MacMaster, and Pamela MacMaster of Litchfield. After graduating from Notre Dame Academy in Waterbury, CT, she attended Bay Path College. Thereafter, she spent her professional life of 33 years with Allstate Insurance, where her coworkers became an extended family. She leaves behind her adoring sisters, Heather (John Powell) and Aislinn MacMaster. She leaves three nephews and one niece, Ian Powell, Mackenzie Powell, Henry Powell, and Harley Harris, her four greatest sources of joy. In addition, Tara leaves behind her devoted friend, Scott Obara, and her three feline babies, Lexie, Chloe, and Summer. In addition, Tara was the glue for a network of extended family. She will be remembered for her infectious giggle, generous nature, and unwavering loyalty to those she loved. In memory of Tara, dish yourself up some chocolate ice cream, play Round and Round by Ratt loud enough so your neighbors complain, and paint your toenails purple. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020, at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. Mass and Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Connecticut Humane Society, Newington, CT,

To Pam, Heather, and Aisling, My. Deepest sympathy to you at this time. I used to baby sit for Tara, Heather, and Aisling when you were little, and I’m heartbroken to read of Tara’s death. You are in my heart, my mind, and my prayers. The beauty and Joy of Tara will live on in our memories and in the impulses of her nieces and nephews as well as in heaven. Please call on me if I can help. Most sincerely, Susan Read

I was lucky enough to get to meet Tara through my sister in law Marianne. The 3 of us had THE BEST time ever just laughing and dancing together! I only wish I had the opportunity to hang out with her more!!

Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.

Tara was a person with such a Good Heart and Kind Soul. There was Always a Smile on Her Face as well as Joy in Her Voice. Her Compassion was Felt as well as Seen through her Actions. We will never forget how Tara would make it a point to stop by to say hello and see how things were going. And, if there was someone in need, Tara would provide them with some Kind Words while doing anything she could to Help Them.
We also will never forget how much she Loved Her Cats, who were Her Kids; in addition, how she Enjoyed Watching the Birds feeding at her birdfeeder or Working with others in Her Garden.
Most of All, we will Miss how Tara made such a Positive Impact On All of Us…
Rest In Peace Our Good Friend. You’ll Be Missed.
