Obituary for Stephen Benjamin Loomis

Vernon - Stephen “Bones” Benjamin Loomis, 52 passed away October 4th, 2022 surrounded by his family. Bones was born in Winsted on December 3rd, 1969, the son of the late Robert W. Loomis and Helen P. Loomis.

Bones graduated from Litchfield High School in 1987. While excelling in all sports, Bones was proudly an All-State soccer goalie which lead him to be recruited to play in Europe, and eventually both Becker and Lydon State. What mattered to Bones most was family. His greatest joy was watching his sons play baseball, basketball, and soccer. His nieces and nephews frequently found him on the sidelines of their own sports games cheering them on. In his spare time, he was an avid ice fisherman, and golfer-- those who joined him were guaranteed a laugh and a good time. Most importantly, Bones is remembered as the life of any party; his charm, warmth, and uniqueness made him the inevitable center of attention always. His brother says it best, “he was just plain special”.

He is survived by his mother, Helen P. Loomis, and two sons, Hunter and Chase Loomis. Fiancee Robin Fendley (stepsons Keith and Jonathan), Brothers Mark (Kathy), and Tim (Andrea), and Sister, Sherri Waldron. Nieces—Sarah Ackers (Zac), Riley Loomis, and Marli Waldron. And nephews— Max Loomis and Luke Waldron.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 10, 2022 at 10:00am.
