Litchfield – Sophia (Tina) Ramondetta Dervis, 90, of Litchfield, Connecticut died on July 21, 2021. Mrs. Dervis was born in Southington, Connecticut on February 13, 1931, daughter of Louis and Catherine Ramondetta. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leonard L. Dervis.
She was a member of the Bethlehem Friends of the Library and belonged to the Connecticut Association of Retired Teachers. She graduated from Connecticut State Teachers College in 1952 with a BS degree and went on to obtain a Master’s Degree and sixth year certificate from Southern Connecticut University.
Mrs. Dervis taught school for forty years retiring in 1992 from Swift Junior High School in Watertown, Connecticut. She began her teaching career at Southington High School and taught high school English at Thomaston and Litchfield High Schools. She was an adjunct professor at Mattatuck Community College in the Humanities Department.
In her retirement years, Mrs. Dervis volunteered at the Bethlehem Library and pursued her interests in writing, poetry, painting in watercolor, reading, traveling, and gardening.
She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph and Dominic and her sister Carmella. Sophia is survived by her nieces; Helen Powers of Franklin, New Hampshire, Lisa Bargelski of Essex, Connecticut, Gerri Powers of Osterville, Massachusetts and Marlene Ramondetta of Pompano, Florida, her nephews, Tom Powers of Crampton New Hampshire and several great nieces and great nephews.
Burial will be at the family’s convenience. There will be no calling hours.
