Robert “Bob” Devaux, passed away on April 7, 2022 at the age of 82, in his hometown of Torrington, Connecticut with his wife, son, Christopher and Natasha, lovingly by his side. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Bob came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Bob completed his High School Education in 1959, studying Industrial Electronics, then attended Ward Technical College earning an associates in Applied Science “Engineering Fundamentals”. Continuing his education earning a degree from University of Hartford in 1973. Bob worked at Associated Spring in Bristol during which time he had earned himself a patent in spring design, receiving an award in 1981.
Bob took great pride in his home, family, and pets. He was especially known for his yearly flock of Thanksgiving Turkeys.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Bob. He loved taking care of our many farm animals. Bob especially loved mowing his lawn with his tractor, it was his own special time to unwind. Bob also had a passion for cooking and often entered contests, winning many prizes. He always enjoyed a quiet night with his wife and his friends, with a glass of wine or beer in his hand, sitting at a table under the umbrella while doing crosswords. Bob’s most favorite vacations were taken at the Villages in Florida, spending 2 months relaxing at the pool, and planning where to dine that night. He had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities. Bob had a pleasant personality that was contagious to everyone he met. Bob was a member of the Elks Club #372.
Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean Anne “Thrall” Devaux, two sons; Christopher Byron, Mark Francis and supporter, Natasha Root and a brother, Roy of Bantam, Connecticut.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main Street, Torrington, CT 06790. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington.
