Obituary for Richard A. Waldron

Richard A. Waldron, 78, of Oakville, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Waterbury Hospital after complications due to COVID-19.

Richard was born on September 5, 1942 in Waterbury. He was the son of the late Arnold and Dorothy Waldron. He leaves his son Mark Waldron and his wife Maria of Lompoc, California, and his three granddaughters Adriana, Angelina, and Abigail, his brothers; Robert Waldron and his wife Kathy, Thomas Waldron and his wife Marilyn, Wayne Waldron and his wife Janet, and Craig Waldron and his wife Jennifer, his sisters; Priscilla Hamel and her husband Joseph, Jean Morneault and her husband Michael, Sandra O'Brien, and Deborah Roaix, and brother-in-law Frederick Grohs, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Richard was predeceased by his sisters, Wendy McCuin and Barbara Grohs.

Richard resided in Waterbury, Bethlehem, Vermont, Thomaston, and most recently in Oakville. He graduated high school from Beeman Academy in New Haven, Vermont in 1960 where he excelled in all team sports. Richard was a proud veteran who served our country in the Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. He was employed at Tech Systems in Thomaston and most recently at Microtech in Cheshire, where he worked several years until his retirement.

Richard was a passionate sports fan and loved to cheer on UCONN Basketball by traveling to several Final Four Championship Games. He was also a devoted Red Sox fan who was a frequent visitor of Fenway Park. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, riding his motorcycle, and going to car shows. Richard was a charter member of the CT Cruise News Riders and the NY Riders, where he participated in charity work that benefited many communities. Richard was a great photographer and always carried a camera with him so he could take pictures at all important or casual family functions.
