Obituary for Phyllis F. Soliday

Litchfield

Phyllis Farrington Soliday, 95, of 1 Hawthorne Court, Litchfield, died on November 9 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital with her loving family at her side.

She was born on October 16, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA and was the daughter of the late Ray Philip Farrington and Patsy Clark Farrington.

Mrs. Soliday attended Wheaton College MA, Bryn Mawr College, and graduated with a BS degree from Northwestern Connecticut Community College in 1976.

Dedicated to education, Mrs. Soliday served for many years as a Director of the Foundation of Northwestern Connecticut Community College. She was a member of, and served as, a deacon of The First Congregational Church of Litchfield. She was also a member of the Litchfield Country Club, Litchfield Garden Club, Litchfield Aid of the Connecticut Junior Republic, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames of America and also served on the Board of the Visiting Nurse Association of Litchfield.

Mrs. Soliday is survived by her daughter Trisha Soliday Haulenbeek and her husband Jonathan of Northfield, CT; a daughter Bonnie Soliday Chamberlain of Litchfield, CT; a daughter Wendy Soliday and her husband Gregory MacDonald of East Montpelier, VT; a son David Shriver Soliday, III of Charleston, SC; her 5 grandchildren, Addison MacDonald and his wife Brooke Hauser, Brooke MacDonald and her husband Andrew Morse, Luke MacDonald, Meredith Chamberlain Shafer and her husband Brian, her 7 great grandchildren, William Shafer, Brooke Shafer, Marlow MacDonald, Sydney MacDonald, Theo Morse, Jude Morse and Truman Morse.

There are no calling hours. Memorial service will be held at The First Congregational Church of Litchfield at 2 pm on November 16, 2019. Burial is private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The First Congregational Church of Litchfield or a charity of the donor’s choice.
