Philip George Starr
January 30, 1940 – June 27, 2022

Philip George Starr, 82 of Goshen, Connecticut died peacefully surrounded by family at home on Monday, June 27, 2022. He is survived by his wife, June (Fish), his children, Donis Starr Grabowski of North Carolina, Laura Starr Melo (Silvio) of Florida, and Joseph Starr of Florida. His grandchildren, Chief Petty Officer Silvio P. Melo, Mary Wilkinson (Sean), Aaron Starr, Jennifer G. Ferguson (Taylor), Richard A. Grabowski (Heather), John J. Starr, great grandchildren, Aidyn Wilkinson, Neal Wilkinson and Brady Melo.
Also survived by Amy Grabowski, Adam Soltis, Kimberly Brown (Frank), Frederick Brown and several nieces and nephews.
Born in Torrington, Connecticut to John F. Starr and Marjorie (Woodington), Philip was predeceased by his parents and siblings, William P. Starr, George M. Starr, Sharon H. Squires, his son-in-law Richard (Donis), and his grand-daughter, Jessica L. Melo.
Philip volunteered for the Goshen Fire Company as well as the Cornwall Volunteer Fire Department as Engineer for 20 years. He spent several years as a Boy Scout Leader as well as many other volunteer positions through the years.
He was a member of the United States Air Force, stationed in the Azores, as a fire fighter from 1958 – 1960.
Philip worked for Starr TV from 1961 until he purchased the business in 1976 until 1981. In 1981 he began working as Lab Technician for the Berkshire Transformer Corporation in Kent until 1999. He performed various transportation jobs until retiring in 2017.
Philip enjoyed the outdoors fishing and camping with family and friends. He was a huge John Wayne fan and enjoyed watching Westerns.
A memorial service is planned for Sunday, July 10, 2022, at 1 o’clock, United Church of Christ-Congregational, 8 Bolton Hill Road, Cornwall, Connecticut.
