Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather
Litchfield – Peter J. Bastianello, 100, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Elmira (Zubrowski) Bastianello.
Peter was born on June 25, 1920, in Marlboro, NY the son of the late Dominic and Mary (Dall Vechia) Bastianello. His family moved to Torrington in 1936 and he graduated from Torrington High School in 1938. Peter was a World War II veteran of the United States Army Air Force. Peter worked for the State of Connecticut as an Inspector for the Liquor Control Division, retiring in 1980.
Peter was a gracious and kind man with a quick wit and mischievious twinkle in his blue eyes.
His loyal and steadfast care for wife during her prolonged illness exemplified the unbeatable strength that seems unique to his generation.
100 years may seem like a long time but in this case it wasn’t long enough. His family will miss him every day.
He is survived by his sons; Peter Bastianello, Jr. and his wife, Rita, of Thomaston and Dennis Bastianello and his wife, Mary, of Harwinton; his daughter, Pamela Bastianello of Barkhamsted; his granddaughter, Reagan Bastianello and three great grandchildren, Ainsley, Bailee and Calleigh all of Harwinton.
He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Corrine and his brother, Richie.
Peter will be laid to rest with full Military Honors, in a private ceremony.
