Obituary for Pauline Nathlie Mohan (King)

Pauline Nathlie Mohan, 72, of 39 Crestwood Rd. in Torrington, died peacefully at home with her family by her side on Friday, August 27th. Pauline is survived by her husband, Erwin Mohan, son Patrick Mohan, daughter Robin Mohan and her fiance Vincent Florio, and her step daughter Sherri-Lynn Garney, all of Torrington. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Jessica and Connor Mohan, their mother Roz Paxton, of Meriden, Duncan Mohan of Waterville, ME, and Amelia Mohan and her mother Alyssa Lancor of Torrington. Pauline also had two great-grandchildren, Ezra and Duncan, Jr. Mohan of Waterville, ME.

She also leaves behind her three surviving siblings: Edwin King of Flanders, NY, Sharon Peters of Churchville, VA, and her twin brother Paul King of East Hampton, NY; her four sister-in-laws, Ruth Nasturwich, Fran Thomas, Sharon Sheagren (with husband Gerald) and Sandra Gillotti (with husband Gabriel), plus several nieces and nephews. She was especially close to her niece Brenda MacPherson of East Hampton, NY and her children, including Matthew MacPherson, Pauline's godson.
Pauline was born December 28, 1948 to the late Preston and Antoinette (Pelis) King of East Hampton, NY. She is also predeceased by her eldest son, Kevin Mohan, and nine of her brothers and sisters: Betty, Preston, David, Carrie, Viola, Carl, Marie, John and Brian.

Pauline was a graduate of East Hampton High School and moved to Connecticut in 1972 to marry Erwin and raised their family in Torrington. She worked various jobs in the community, most notably at Lums Restaurant, The Torrington Company and Howmet.
She'll be remembered for her generosity and the unconditional love she gave to all that knew her. Pauline was kind, sometimes silly, loved to laugh and be with her family and friends. Her children's friends all called her mom because that is how she cared and felt about them. She took such joy in planning holidays, family dinners and picnics or lending a helping hand to anyone that needed her. She absolutely loved all animals, especially her beloved dog, Annie, who passed away last November, and will be buried with her.

Pauline's family has special memories of her; Robin and her mom's Friday shopping adventures, her love of watching scary movies with Pat and Mia, and her corny jokes and infectious laugh that made everyone smile. Erwin will forever be grateful for the time they shared together taking care of each other and the family, doing yardwork, cooking together, doing their morning crossword puzzle and traveling to visit family and friends and their trip to Ireland.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Smilow Cancer Center in Torrington for the exceptional care and compassion given to Pauline; and a very special thanks to our friend, Marguerite Labella for all the wonderful help she was to our family during mom's illness.

Calling hours will be held Friday, September 3rd at the Thurston-Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Rd., Litchfield, CT from 4-7 pm.
Funeral service will be at the funeral home at 10am on Saturday, followed by the burial at Hillside Cemetery in Torrington.
There will be a luncheon following services at the Greenwoods Country Club,300 Torringford St., Winsted CT.
