LITCHFIELD - Patricia Goodwin, 77, wife of 51 years to the late Robert E. Goodwin Jr., passed away Saturday Feb. 6th at Brandywine Living in Litchfield. Born in Torrington on January 23rd, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Marcel and Rose (Weingart) Mougenot. Pat grew up in Torrington, graduating from Torrington High School, Class of 1961, and went to work at Cramer & Anderson LLP in Litchfield shortly after graduation where she worked as a bookkeeper for over 40 years.
Pat was an active member of Evangelical Baptist Church in Torrington where she worked with the Awana club, Pioneer girls, and volunteered her time in many different ways. Between her work and raising an active family of four children, Pat found time to tend her many flower and vegetable gardens on her family's farm. She canned vegetables and fruit, and created many meals from scratch, adopting the "farm to table" concept long before the phrase "farm to table" became the trend. Pat was a phenomenal baker, much to her family's enjoyment, winning first place at local fairs for her blueberry muffins and coffee cakes. She found joy in taking care of her two dogs Penny and Molly, feeding apples to the cows on the farm, and could often be found walking down her country road followed by a variety of barn cats who loved spending time with her. Pat had a keen financial mind and invested wisely as to provide for her family throughout her life. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling the country with her husband, Robert, and spending time closer to home at the family's cottage on Tyler Lake in Goshen. Her life was one devoted to her family, both near and far, and we are comforted to know that she was a woman of faith, resting in her salvation through the grace of Jesus Christ.
She is survived by two sons, Timothy Goodwin, and Christopher Goodwin and wife Bethany; two daughters, Suzanne Beach and husband Jason, and Barbara Beebe and husband Scott; 16 grandchildren and her sister, Marcia McCann.
