Obituary for Noble Strong Calhoun

Noble Strong Calhoun of Bantam passed away peacefully on November 10th in New Milford, CT. He was born on November 13, 1930 in New Milford Hospital. He was the loving husband to Marian (Goslee) Calhoun.

He left 4 sons: Richard Duffy, David, John and Daniel Calhoun. He was predeceased by 2 daughters and 1 son: Patricia Schlosky, Sandra and Michael Duffy. He also leaves 21 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

Noble was the son of Charles and Ruth (Strong) Calhoun from Woodville, CT. Noble graduated in 1948 from Washington High School, where he grew to love baseball and reading which he carried throughout his lifetime. He played baseball for the infamous Washington Townies and the New Preston Hillies.

As a member of the United States Air Force, he served in Europe and North East Africa. When he wasn’t working as a clerk typist, he toured with the Air Force‘s soccer club and played in France as well as other countries.

After his Air Force tour ended he worked for Avalon Farms and Aerospace Industries in Bantam before beginning a career as a custodian for the Litchfield Public Schools. He retired from the Litchfield Public Schools, where he touched the lives of everyone he worked with.

Noble was also a lifetime member of the Bantam Fire Department. As a member there, he was one of the original ambulance crew.

There will be a Graveside Ceremony with Military Honors for friends and family on Saturday, November 20th at 1:00 PM at the Bantam Cemetery.
