Monica D. (Stimus) Tremont
Monica suffered a stroke on January 21, 2020 and passed from her illness on February 21, 2020.
Born August 2,1938, she was the youngest child of Margaret (Cowenhoven) Stimus and Edward F. Stimus Sr. and was named after her Mother’s best friend.
Monica was predeceased by her parents and sisters; Grace, Dorothy, Bernice and Edna and also her brothers Edward Jr. and Noel. She is survived by an older sister Margaret and daughter Monica Mary Tremont as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Monica grew up in Brooklyn, New York and raised her family in New Jersey before retiring and moving to Litchfield, Ct., in 2000. She had never been to Litchfield until the day she drove around the Green and fell in love. She found and rented an apartment that same week.
A love of Reading, Art, Antiques, Nature and Music (Elvis and Dean Martin) was shared at every opportunity, however, her real love was always the friendships and relationships she made throughout her lifetime. Her smile, silly jokes, quick laughter, little gifts and willingness to listen and share were her trademarks as well as her energy, strength, independence, stubbornness and an unfailing no nonsense approach to most discussions.
A sincere Thank You from her family to everyone who called our Aunt Monie their friend and especially to those who reached out while she was hospitalized with visits, prayers and get well wishes.
Monica will be remembered on Thursday at the daily 8 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South Street, Litchfield.
