Canaan, CT- Mary G. Pluff, 86, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born on October 8, 1932 in Greenfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Marion (Deveney) Galvin. She was raised in Greenfield and graduated from the Academy of the Assumption and Mary Mount College in Tarrytown, New York. She married Robert E. Pluff in 1954 and her family moved to Stratton, Vermont in 1963, where Mary enjoyed watching her family on the slopes. She loved antiques and fashion and with her friend Rose Dyer made toys, which were designed and made for the US Ski Team and colleges and they owned a gift store. Mary ran the Stratton Arts Festival and the Stratton Ski Ball for several years. Mary became a social worker in Vermont and continued that work when she moved to Daytona Beach, Florida. She later moved to Connecticut to be closer to her family.
Mary was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Ann-Marie Plank and Elizabeth Cipolla and her husband Donald; her sons, James and his wife Rae Rae McGee, Brian, and Christopher and his wife Kelley; her grandchildren, Margo Plank Casco and her husband Caleb, Karla Plank, Laura Pluff, Emily Pluff, and Grace Pluff; her daughter-in-law, Joanne Pluff; and her life-long friend Betty Restucci.
In addition to her parents, Mary goes to join her son, Mark Pluff; her husband, Robert E. Pluff, and her good friend, Rose Dyer.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family in the spring.
