Lillian McBreairty

NEW MILFORD – Lillian McBreairty, 72, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 26, 2021 at 5:15 a.m. while surrounded by the love of her family at her home. She was the loving wife of Jeffrey B. McBreairty.

Born in Stamford, Conn., on February 11, 1949, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Emily (Williams) Hawkins.

She attended grade school in Stamford and Washington and graduated from New Milford High School. Lillian was a lifelong homemaker and loved listening to music; Loretta Lynn and Cher were her favorites. She enjoyed the two concerts she was able to attend; Loretta Lynn and Waylon Jennings. She loved vacationing in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the summer and fall and looking for moose while there. She enjoyed going for rides to look at cows and fishing with her husband, Jeffrey. She loved the many dogs she had throughout her life and every year she faithfully helped prepare the flags for the Poppy Sale for the American Legion Post 31.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Donna Wood who tirelessly cared for Lillian’s every need in the last weeks of her life.

In addition to her husband, Jeffrey, Lillian is survived by her children; Emily Jane Dionne of Thomaston, Bryan Thomas McBreairty of Kent, Lillian Samantha McBreairty of New Milford; sons-in-law, Tom Smith and Martin Dionne Jr.; daughter-in-law, Gina Masi; her twin brother, David Roy Hawkins of New Milford; her grandchildren, Lindsey Darlene Hockaday, Myranda Gloria Dionne; Jennah Lillian Dionne, Minah Emily McBreairty, Jeffrey Lloyd McBreairty, Donald Cherico; her great grandsons, Ashton Hockaday and Jaxon Muckle; lifelong friend, Arlene Derby; devoted dog, Tasha; devoted Doctor and friend, Dr. Pacey Pet; nieces, Angie, Monique, Michelle, Stephanie, Wendy and Terry; nephews, Tim, Tom, Dana, Jamie and David; cousins, Patty, Barbara and Mariela; brother-in-law, Bernard McBreairty and wife, Jane; sisters-in-law, Alice Baylock and husband, John, Christine Shenko and husband, Bob, and Darlene Oviatt.

In addition to her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her brother, William Henry Hawkins; granddaughter, Amanda Ann McBreairty; grandson, Bryan Christopher McBreairty; her best friend, Diane Romano; lifelong friends, Peggy Faust, Pauline Kelley and Jan Danyelko; grandparents, Frank H. Williams and Margaret A. Williams; brother-in-law, Joseph C. McBreairty; niece, Denise and uncle, Frank.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. Burial will follow in New Milford Center Cemetery, 6 Poplar Street, New Milford. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, June 30 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
