Obituary for Leo Robert Sass

Leo Robert Sass, age 89 of Roswell, GA, died peacefully at Emory Hospital on Friday, September
17, 2021 after a brief illness. He was married for 63 years to Theresa (Hladik) Sass. Leo was born
in Kingston, NY on January 12, 1932. After serving as a Machinist’s Mate during the Korean War
he moved to Litchfield, CT where he joined the American Legion Morgan-Wier Post 27. He was
a lifelong member of the post and served as Commander in the early ‘60s.
After his retirement from Tilcon-Tomasso in 1994 he enjoyed travelling with Theresa and
spending time with his family and friends.He was an avid animal lover and book reader and
supported the Litchfield Library. While still living in Litchfield he and Theresa would frequently
volunteer at FISH of Torrington.
In addition to his wife Theresa, Leo is survived by his sons, Leo Anthony Sass of Lakeville,
CT, Kenneth Sass and his wife Dawn (Wilson) Sass of Winter Haven, FL, his daughters Andrea
(Sass) Rollins and her husband Tim Rollins of Atlanta, GA, and Eileen (Sass) Secchi and her
husband Ronald Secchi of Norwalk CT and his grandchildren Spencer and Emmy Sass, Jonathan
and Sean Sass, Timothy, James, Joseph and Samuel Rollins, Alexandra and Michael Secchi and
many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents James and Marie Sass of Kingston, NY and his brother James
Sass of Margaretville, NY.
Visitation will be held at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, CT
on Sunday, October 3rd from 1:00 to 2:30 pm followed by a brief service.
