Obituary

Kathleen Eloise Crawford was born on May 21st, 1951 in Springfield, New Jersey.
From a young age she dreamed of living in New York City, which she realized by attending the Fashion Institute of Technology, earning her Associate's Degree in 1971. She spent the next thirty years in New York beginning with the pursuit of a career in fashion design with her own clothing line. Later, she cultivated her passions for interior design, history and antique curation which brought her and her family to Litchfield, Connecticut. These interests were put to good use with her contributions to the Litchfield Historical Society and Garden Club.
Kathleen will be loved and remembered by her children, Sam and Charlotte Crawford, as having shaped their lives with boundless love, unconditional affection, and the singular beauty with which her talent and taste could create a home.

I just found out that Kathy passed away. She was my first boss in the fashion industry. I loved working with her as she was
so good to work for and we shared lots of laughs. She had such great style and passion for whatever she did. It is not surprising that she also worked in interior design. I am so sad to know her life was cut short. I am sorry I did not get a chance to reconnect.
My condolences to her family.

Tom and I walk every day through the center of Litchfield. We often ran into Kathleen and her beloved Gully. I always enjoyed seeing her and chatting about this or that. She was a member of our “Tuesday dinner group” and we all met at various restaurants in town, most often At The Corner. Me and Kathleen were the only ones who didn’t drink alcohol and we would toast with our ginger ale. I worked part time at Derwins, an exclusive Men’s store in town and one day Kathleen came in, all dressed up, to inquire about a possible part time job. We had a good time talking and commenting on the beautiful clothes in the store. I hoped she would be hired because I thought it would be fun to work with her. I don’t think she ever pursued the job because I think shortly afterwards she wasn’t feeling well. She would have been an asset to the store because she was very classy.
I miss Kathleen and feel bad her life was cut short.
