Obituary for Katherine L. Tanner
Katherine Louise Tanner, age 76, of Harwinton, CT passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 after a long battle with Breast Cancer. Katherine was predeceased by her father, Robert W. Tanner, her mother, Priscilla Tanner, her brother, Robert W. Tanner, Jr., and her brother-in-law, Vincent Greco. She leaves her sisters; Gail Greco and Carolyn Mitchell both of Torrington, her nephew, Gary Gugliotti of Watertown and her niece, Amanda Batta and nephew, Justin Batta both of Harwinton. She also leaves a brother-in-law, several nieces and nephews, cousins, and many others whose lives she touched.
Kathy known as “Kitty” to all who loved her was a kind and gentle soul. She had an avid love of cats and had owned and loved several felines over the years. “Kitty” was quiet and preferred the company of those that she was close to. Intelligent and detail oriented she worked for the Aetna for 52 years working her way up to IT security where she became irreplaceable to her company and her co-workers. The knowledge in her head from all those years was unimaginable to most of her peers.
Kitty loved the quiet life. She liked to garden and to swim and to travel to the beaches of Maine, South Carolina and Florida. She loved cake decorating and created beautiful birthday cakes for her niece and nephews throughout their childhood years. She was the researcher in the family and if there was something that needed looking up Kit was the go to; she would find the answer. She will be greatly missed!
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to Susan G. Komen and help continue to fight against Breast Cancer. A graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Torrington, CT at 11:00am on Saturday, June 5, 2021 and is open to all family and friends.
