Obituary for Kailey Jaie Prenoveau

Kailey Jaie Prenoveau, a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend, passed away August 22, 2021 in Harwinton, Connecticut. She is survived by her loving parents, Zachary & Alyssa Prenoveau; her brothers, Carsen, Ashton, and Lincoln; her grandparents, Paul & Jan Prenoveau and Chad & Gina Van Tassell; her great-grandmother Janet Richardson; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents Frederick & Gertrude LaValley, Adrien & Leona Prenoveau, Gilbert Richardson, and Carl & Elda Van Tassell.

Kailey was born September 14, 2006 in Bristol, Connecticut and packed a whole lifetime into her (almost) 15 years. She was welcomed to her family by her brother, Carsen, and they became fast friends. Her family moved to Saratoga Springs, Utah when she was one, and soon brothers, Ashton and Lincoln, joined the family. Surrounded by boys, she was deemed “the princess,” an endearing title which she wore well. The consummate big sister, Kailey stepped easily into the role of nurturer and protector. It was evident that she would be able to hold her own in a home full of boys; her facial expressions spoke volumes and her smile could melt any heart. She was enrolled in dance classes and loved to don fancy costumes, but she also. wasn’t afraid to tromp through a muddy pasture in boots while helping her grandpas irrigate. As a young girl, she loved to ride bikes, play on the swings, swim, and play games (to win).

The family moved back to Connecticut several years later. She attended Southwest Elementary School, Harwinton Consolidated Elementary School, and Har-Bur Middle School. She was enrolled at Lewis S. Mills High School, where she was a high honors student, member of the crew and swim teams, and was looking forward to participating in cross-country this year. Kailey gave 100% in everything she did: sports, school work, and church callings. She did not shy away from hard work, allowing her to letter in swim and crew teams as a Freshman.

She loved riding horses and swimming with her family. She loved to cook and bake for her family, and many others were able to enjoy her culinary talent. She also loved her puppy, Zoey, cilantro-lime rice, enchiladas, Dr. Pepper, Hot Tamales, Friendly’s Mint Ice Cream, and Ma’s Custard. Kailey frequently helped her mom in the kitchen and became quite the accomplished chef. She was kind-hearted and sought to help others - individuals and her community—always able to know what exactly what was needed. Above all else, she loved and cherished her family.

Kailey was baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when she was 8. She regularly attended church and studied the scriptures with her family. After turning 12, she was elated to attend the Hartford temple to participate in ordinances for her family members. As a Freshman, she attended a Seminary class before High School each morning at 5:45 a.m. and was the sole recipient of an award for perfect attendance. She gained a testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and wanted to help others find a way to be closer to Him.

The Prenoveau family wishes to express their gratitude to family, friends, and acquaintances for visits, calls, and the tokens of love extended to us. Those who loved Kailey will forever hold a place in our hearts.
