Obituary for June Anderson
June “Bug” Eva Slate Anderson of Northfield passed away peacefully on February 9, 2022 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital after a long illness.
June was born on August 26, 1945 in Harwinton. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James E. Anderson, her son, Jon E. Anderson of Hampstead, North Carolina, his wife Tammy, June’s beloved granddaughter, Abigail Snowe Anderson, Her sister, Bonnie Slate Gangell of Torrington, and Chris Slate of New Hartford. June is predeceased by her parents Curt and Jean Slate and her three brothers; Curt, Tom, and Clark.
June graduated from Lewis S. Mills High School in 1963. She was a longtime member of the Harwinton Agricultural Society, serving as secretary for several years. She was a member of the Northfield Volunteer Fire Department ladies Auxiliary since the early seventies. She was the Registrar of Voters for the town of Litchfield for many years. June was also a Deacon and charter member of Founders Congregational Church in Harwinton. June was always ready to volunteer to help others.
Calling hours will be held on February 11, 2022 from 5-8pm at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Rd. Litchfield, CT. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Founders Congregation Church, 48 Birge Park Rd, Harwinton, CT at 11:00 am. Reception to follow at the Northfield Volunteer Fire Department 12 Knife Shop Rd, Northfield.
