Jane Patricia Stone Weltmer born January 28th, 1933, long time resident of New Providence, N.J. passed from this life in the care of hospice and her immediate family on 12/12/18 in Morris CT at the age of 85. A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 22nd at 3:00 pm at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 419 South St, New Providence, NJ 07974 (908) 464-4875.
She was born and raised in Westchester County, N.Y., Jane received her Diploma of Nursing at New Rochelle Hospital SON. She worked there as a recovery room nurse until she married and moved to New Providence in 1958. An active member of St Andrews Church as a Sunday school teacher, involved in the Girls Club and confirmation among many other duties. She was also adept in the art of calligraphy and used her skills to document important religious occasions for many parishioners. She was skilled at knitting and donated many a hat and scarf to the Seamen's Institute. Jane was also a volunteer at the Overlook Hospital for years and donated hundreds of knitted baby caps for the newborns.
She is pre-deceased by her devoted husband, William Reber Weltmer, Jr. (2004); her brother, Samuel J. Stone, Jr. (2012) and her parents Samuel J Stone, Sr. and Anna (Halescky) Stone.
Survived by her daughter Carol Ann W. Downs RN, MSN (Clinton Downs); her grandchildren, Clinton "Ted" Downs and Sarah Ann Downs; her sisters, Ann Stone Stabile and Carol Stone Walsh (Peter Walsh).
