Obituary for Jane Virginia Coughlin

***Jane’s family and friends would like to invite everyone whose lives she touched to join them for a joyful celebration of words and music and good food, to be known as “Jane’s Party." Saturday, June 3rd from 11am to 1pm at White Memorial Conservation Center in the Carriage House and adjacent field, rain or shine. Kid-friendly.

BANTAM- Jane Virginia Coughlin, age 68, passed away at her home on March 4, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends. She leaves behind her husband Keith Cudworth, son Christopher Cudworth, daughter Kate Cudworth, granddaughter Harper Jane Cudworth, stepmother Carol Coughlin, brother Eric Coughlin, sisters Barbara Arroyo and Beth Coughlin, much loved nieces, nephew, and grandniece, a passel of friends and “playmates,” and of course, her cats Fred and Ginger.

Her family wishes to thank Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for giving her more time with family and friends, as well as to Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Litchfield County for their caring support.

Jane spent most of her career as an adoption social worker, at Lutheran Social Services and Family & Children’s Agency, helping place hundreds of children to caring homes. Somehow, she managed to do this while trodding the boards in over 150 community theater productions in twenty theaters throughout Minnesota and Connecticut.
In addition to her almost full-time volunteering in theater, she was also very involved as a board member of Civic Family Services and the Connecticut Council on Adoption, and the organizer-extraordinaire at Clothes Tree in Bantam.

Donations in Jane’s name can be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (jimmyfund.org) and Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Litchfield County (vnhlc.org).
