Obituary for Harriet Tsimonis

Morris - Harriet Tsimonis, 82, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Anthony Tsimonis.
Harriet was born on March 21, 1939 in Lincoln, Nebraska to the late Henry and Mary Strickland. She graduated from Lincoln High School and University of Nebraska with a degree in physical education. She worked for thirteen years as an elementary school physical education teacher in Des Plaines, Illinois, until she married her husband Anthony and moved to CT where she took care of the family farm. She loved her garden and canned many vegetables and cooked special old-time family recipes.
In her later years, she cared for many of the family’s older generation by making their lives comfortable and peaceful. Every summer for 27 years Harriet and her husband opened their home to a Christian Youth Camp. Besides studying the Word of God, the children loved the home-fresh meals prepared from her garden. The annual young people’s camp was a highlight for everyone who attended.
Harriet was a member of the Waterbury Bible Students Church and Hartford Bible Students Church. She dedicated her consecrated life in service to the Lord, working diligently by being an example to her family and friends. She served in any capacity possible including opening her home to those of like-precious faith and anyone who needed help.
She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Tsimonis. She leaves behind a sister, Alverta (John) Polson, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, brother-in-law, Paul Balko, of Shorewood, IL, nephews; Timothy (Judy) Morrissey, Sean Morrissey, John Constance, and Peter (Patricia) Constance, John Ashley, nieces; Kathleen Morrissey, Lydia (Robert) Davis, Victoria (Gary) Griffin, Priscilla (Paul) Jezuit, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
