Obituary for Guido Joseph Sebben

Guido Sebben, 96, of Torrington, CT passed away October 21, 2021. He was born on September 25, 1925, in Canaan, CT. He was the son of the late Joseph and Pasqua (Pescador) Sebben.

He served in the Army 4th Division, 81st replacement Battalion, 463rd Company as an infantry scout and rifleman in World War II at age 19. His first day in combat was December 23, 1944, on the front lines in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.

Guido was a consultant for CL&P and retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of the National Ski Patrol for over 57 years; 32 years at Mohawk Mountain and 25 years at Butternut Basin. He loved sharing time with his family and was an avid skier. He loved dancing, sailing, fishing, croquet, golf, and much more.

Guido’s loving wife Elizabeth (Satanski) Sebben of 42 years preceded him in death. Guido and Elizabeth were blessed with 6 children: Michael and his wife Sue of Tolland, CT; John and his wife Felicia of Tolland, CT; Peter of Winchester CT; Tina Magill and her husband Michael of Harwinton, CT; Paul and his wife Wendy of Monroe, CT; and Elaine of Kailua, HI. In addition, he has 15 grandchildren (Nicholas, Brian, Danielle, Michelle, Matthew, Chelsea, Casey, Andrew, Eric, Julia, Katie, Shawn, Samantha, Jacob and Christopher was pre-deceased) and 7 great grandchildren. Guido is survived by his sister Mary Woodman of West Cornwall, CT. His brothers Domenic and Mario and his sister Lena Zavagnin are pre-deceased.

There will be no calling hours. Please join us for a funeral mass service at St. Paul the Great Parish at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 160 Main Street, Torrington, CT on Monday, October 25 at 12 noon. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery with full Military Honors.
