Obituary

Gary R. Schoenknecht
8/13/1951 - 2/9/2020

Gary passed away on Sunday, February 9th at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.

Gary was a gentle soul who never went without ridiculous tan lines year round. He was generous, caring, absurdly funny and always early for everything! He often embarrassed his daughters when they were younger by making parrot noises in the middle of a store or cracking a dad joke while ordering “three-ton” soup at Ming’s.

Gary worked hard all of his life. He took pride in his painting business ACCENT Painting and in his later years was a long time employee of Home Depot where he held several awards for being an outstanding employee. He leaves behind several loyal co-workers who treated him so well. When he wasn’t working he cared for his brother Rob, sent mile long text updates to his daughter about what the cats were doing, enjoyed vacationing to somewhere sunny, cruising around in his convertible, listening to music louder than his neighbors probably appreciated and lounging in the sun.

Gary is survived by his two daughters: Ashley Schoenknecht of CA, Cassie Schoenknecht and her husband Joshua Kyle of Northfield, CT, sister Carol Lugar of Cornwall, CT, nephew Dana Lugar of MT, niece Kara Lugar & partner Jonathan of PA, niece Kerry Schoenknecht of VT and his newly acquired fur companions Sophie & Lil’ One.

Gary is pre-deceased by 3 brothers and his parents Walter & Margaret Schoenknecht
