Obituary for Gary Joseph Caporizzo

Gary Joseph Caporizzo passed away at home surrounded by love and prayer on Tuesday March 22, 2022 at the age of 70. Born on December 24, 1951 to the late Eugene and Rose (Capalbo) Caporizzo in Stamford, CT. Gary went on to live in Southborough, MA, Wilton, CT, and Washington, CT.

Gary met the love of his life, Michele in 1970 and married her on July 28, 1974. He will be remembered by the devotion he showed to her and the life he worked so hard to create for them.

In 2017 Gary became a grandfather, a time that he would say was the best in his life. He adored his grandchildren and had a very special connection with them both; no longer being called Gary or Dad but instead Papa.

Gary acted as the Director of North American Sales for General Cable for over a decade, retiring in 2020. A job that provided him with the chance to travel extensively throughout the world; memories of which he and his wife always cherished.

In his youth he volunteered at the Belltown Fire Department in Stamford, CT. He would light up talking about the experiences he had driving the truck and his grandchildren loved to be told about this time in their Papa’s past.
As a teen Gary became involved in the hobby of firearms and went on to serve as range master at Ramapoo Rifle and Revolver Club in Ridgefield, CT. He was passionate about gun safety and the preservation of the second amendment and would happily volunteer to teach safety courses.

Gary was the Treasurer of the board for Congregation Mishkahn Nachamu; a parish he felt deeply connected to and played a key role in establishing.

In addition to his wife, Michele, he is survived by his son, Michael and his wife, Erin; as well as his two grandchildren, Lucy and Jude. He also leaves behind his three siblings, Robert Caporizzo of Palmyra, Virginia, Jean Ann Frattaroli of Stamford, CT, and William Caporizzo of Greenwich, CT.

The family would like to give special thanks to Harry Ong of Roxbury, CT who during Gary’s hardest days was there to support him through companionship and prayer.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, March 28th at 11 am at the First Congregational Church of Litchfield.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Gary's memory to Beth Chesed Children’s Center in Cap Haitian, Haiti online at www.BethChesed.org or mailed to Beth Chesed Orphanage, PO Box 3483, Woonsocket, RI 02895.
