Obituary for Edward William Burns Jr.
New Milford – Edward W. Burns Jr., age 76, of New Milford passed away at the Candlewood Nursing Home on August 20, 2022. Burns was born on May 22, 1946 in Torrington, Connecticut, son of the late Edward and Mary Burns.
He graduated from the Litchfield High in 1964. He served in the Army a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed at Kimberly-Clark for 30 years, a part time worker at Northville Store and Home Depot.
Edward is survived by his wife, Lorraine Burns of 51 years, two children; Stacy and her husband Chris White and EJ and his wife, Megan, five grandchildren; Jack, Nathan, Erin, Colin and Abby and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Burns from Torrington and his four sisters, Pat Switzer of Torrington, CT, Laurene Ford of Ellsworth, Maine, Mary Samok of Sarasota, Florida and Kathleen Hanecak of Westerly, Rhode Island.
Burnsey was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Mary Burns from Bantam, Connecticut and a brother, William and sister, Eileen.
The Burn’s family would like to thank the staff at the Candlewood Nursing Home for their love, support and kindness that they gave to Ed and his entire family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Our Lady of Grace Church, 715 Bantam Road, Bantam. Burial will follow in Bantam Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 4:00-7:00pm at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield.
