Obituary for Dorothy Clock

Litchfield - Dorothy I. Clock died on August 15, 2020. She was 91 years old. Dorothy was born in Utica, NY and was raised on her family's farm in Oriskany, NY. After high school she was working at Utica College, where she met Ernie, the love of her life. They were married in 1948 and spent 72 years together. They returned to Litchfield where they raised their 3 boys. She was an at-home Mom whose priority was looking after her family. She was a great cook and loved to garden. As her boys grew, she supported them in their school activities and was active in Cub Scouts and is remembered by many of her boy's friends for supporting them there as well. Dorothy was involved with the Litchfield Red Cross for over 5O years including running the Blood Drive for many decades. She remained lucid to the end and enjoyed long conversations about friends and family and current events.
Her main focus, though, was always on Ernie. She and Ernie traveled widely in the US and Europe during their retirement, including annual winter trips to the Florida Keys. They also loved spending time at their cottage in Rhode Island, doing much of its
construction themselves. What she liked best about her travels was all the people she met. She became friends with many and maintained contact with them. She was a people person.

Dorothy was predeceased by Ernie and her mother and father, Marie and William lndermill of Oriskany, NY, and her brothers William, Irving and Don lndermill.

She is survived by her son Jeffrey and fiancee Janet of Willsboro, NY, her son Thomas and wife Bonnie of Poncha Springs, CO and her son Daniel and wife Suzanne of Litchfield. She had three grandsons, Caleb, Noah and Sam and a number of nieces and nephews.

We are very thankful for all of our wonderful caregivers especially Jamie Wesolowski, Sue Rinaldi and Sabrina Pergola. We are also thankful for the crews from Litchfield Volunteer Ambulance, they always treated mom with dignity and respect

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on September 26, at the West Cemetery in Litchfield.
