Torrington - Claudette Frances Cordon, known to most as Mitzi, age 64, passed away suddenly on January 17, 2021 at home. She was born September 4, 1956 in New Haven, Connecticut. She was the daughter of the late Edward Joseph Avery and the late Caroline (Kimler) Avery. She graduated from Cheshire High School. Throughout her life she was a waitress, bartender, aerobics instructor, bookkeeper, school bus driver, and worked for the Connecticut Army National Guard USP&FO. Her favorite “job” was mother and grandmother. She was involved in various bowling leagues for over 20 years at Sky Top Lanes. She also enjoyed line dancing, Martha’s Vineyard, church, the beach, cooking and baking, crafting, road trips, cocktails and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Cordon (Evans) and husband Evan, Richard Cordon and fiancé Samantha, Veronica Wilcox and husband Leland, Carolyn Cordon and stepson Sean Madigan and wife Kristie; grandchildren Katrina, Camden, Leland, Caleb, Sawyer, Jared and Cordon, two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Edward, her former husband Steven Cordon and her step grandson Dominic.
Calling Hours will be Sunday, January 24th from 2:00 – 5:00pm at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, CT 06759. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Monday, January 25th at Our Lady of Hope Parish, 78 Litchfield Road, Harwinton, CT 06791. The Mass will also be live streamed for those that cannot attend. There will be a private burial at a later date.
