Obituary for Betty Ann Wilbur (Colby)

Goshen – Betty Ann Colby Wilbur, 89, passed away on October 18, 2022 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late John Franklin Wilbur of 64 years. Betty was born in Torrington, Connecticut on September 12, 1933 to the late George Dewey and Rose (Krukar) Colby.

Betty graduated from Litchfield High School. She worked as a Postal Clerk for the Goshen Post office for 27 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Goshen Fair flower committee, a 50 year member of the Goshen grange and a member of the Goshen community care and hospice where she also volunteered.

Betty is survived by her daughter Susan A. Hunt and Jack Malahan, a son John A. Wilbur and wife Kym, five grandchildren, Kristine S. Bronson (Max), Amy B. Christy (Mat), Father Josh R. Wilbur, Zach D. Wilbur (Melissa) and Kelly M. Bronson and four great grandchildren, Amber, Hunter, Jackson and Reid Christy. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Beatrice Colby and Lois Colby. In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was predeceased by her brothers, George D. Colby, Jr. and Richard A. Colby.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 71 North Street, Goshen, Connecticut 06756. Burial will follow in Goshen Center Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00pm at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, Connecticut 06759.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Chapel, 71 North Street, Goshen or the Goshen Community Care and Hospice, 5 Old Middle Street, Goshen.
