Obituary for Barbara Lee Williams

LITCHFIELD CT: Barbara Lee (Martin) Williams, 73, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) after courageously fighting a serious illness since last March. She was the beautiful, devoted and loving wife of Evan for over 51 years. They met in 1964 in Baltimore and were married three years later. After a few moves, they came to CT in 1979 and to Litchfield in 1983.

Barbara was born August 28, 1945, in Baltimore, MD daughter of the late Clementina and Benjamin J. Martin. She graduated from Seton, a parochial High School for girls and later attained a two year Associate Certificate from Strayer Business School. As a very young girl Bobbi, as her family knew her, would accompany her father to the Baltimore Orioles home games where she learned how to score an entire MLB game. She rescued and loved several pets especially her dog Maggie who would accompany Barb and Evan on many vacations to Cape Cod where they would enjoy many Frisbee throws while walking on the beaches.

She worked most of her entire life. For the last 28 years, she worked at a local Merrill Lynch Branch as Office Manager and Branch Managers’ Assistant.

She was a communicant of and volunteered at her church St. Anthony of Padua and Lourdes Shrine/Montfort House in Litchfield. Barbara also was proud to be the Financial Secretary of the Daughters of Isabella Circle based at St. Anthony’s. She really enjoyed volunteering for the last 12 years at the CHH Gift Shop where everyone was met by her lovely smile and warm, engaging manner.

She was predeceased by her sister Gail. In addition to her husband, she leaves an Aunt, several nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and her cat Tony to grieve her.

In Baltimore there will be an 11AM Celebratory Mass on Monday November 5, at St. Francis of Assisi on Harford Road immediately followed by a reception.

In Litchfield, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South Street. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery with a reception to follow at La Cupola. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 16, at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield.
