Obituary for Barbara M. Wasley

Fun loving and care free, Barbara Ann ‘Bobby’ (Morren) Wasley was quick to point out to anyone her initials were BMW.

Friendliness and love of laughter were her essence. Social to the core, she confessed she could ‘talk to a stone wall’.

Bobby died peacefully on Sunday, February 24th,2019. She was 90 years young.

Born in New Milford, on July 28th, 1928, Bobby was the fourth of six children to the late Ella Katinka (Beyer) Morren and John Gibb Morren.

Growing up on a farm in Sherman during the Depression taught Bobby faith, resilience and love and affection for family and all living things.

Graduating from New Milford High School in 1946, Bobby was a secretary for Guideposts publications, and organist for the Gaylordsville United Methodist Church.

It was through the Grange she met her late husband, Irving ‘Wings’ Wasley. They married in 1956, moving to Warren, where they lived, raised their family, and farmed happily for 55 years.

Bobby became a secretary for the Kent Girls School in the early 1970’s, then tax collector for Warren for 13 years.

She was an avid member of the Warren Congregational Church, sharing her love of music and talent as a pianist, playing for the Sunday School, as well as Church organist and choir member.

Bobby is survived by her son, Stephen R. Wasley of Sharon, former daughter-in-law Linda R. Amerighi of Sharon, daughter Jane W. and son-in-law Robert G. Dickinson of Morris, grandson Collin Dickinson and fiancé Sarah Royals of Torrington, Paden and Chad Dickinson of Morris, and her beloved dog, Mugsy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Warren Congregational Church on Saturday, April 6th, 2019 at 10AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Warren Congregational Church Organ Fund, 4 Sackett Hill Rd, Warren, CT 06754, the Warren Fire Company, 11 Sackett Hill Road, Warren, CT 06754, or the Little Guild, 285 Goshen Turnpike, West Cornwall, CT 06796.
